Date:2009/07/21 Subject:TCC Completed Star Buck EPC Project On Schedule
TCC Completed Star Buck EPC Project On ScheduleOn June 30, 2009 - TCC became the first Taiwan contractor to complete building a gas-fired power plant successfully on turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis, as Star Buck Power Corporation Star Buck Power Plant was commercially operated. The total installed capacity of plants owned by TCC Group became 2140MW, around 5.4% of Taiwan power system, and 25.7% of Taiwan IPP.Star Buck Power Corporation Star Buck Power Plant is a multi-party investment, sponsored by TCC, TEPCO, Mega International Bank, China Development Industrial Bank, Sumitomo and Cathay Life Insurance, etc, with an installed capacity of 490MW and a total cost of 11.6 billion NTD. TCC was awarded as EPC contractor at the end of 2006. The entire construction schedule was shorter than other similar plants by 4 to 6 months. Even though the outcome is successful, TCC had to overcome a lot of difficulties in the past two and half years, such as the raw material price surge in 2007 – 2008 and financial crisis in 2008 – 2009. Relying on its engineering expertise, and professional project management, TCC completed the plant on schedule, with committed quality from design, procurement, engineering, construction, commissioning, performance test to commercial operation. This achievement and the success of Star Buck EPC Project is believed to bring TCC Group to a higher and more diversified level in the power business. The earning of Star Buck Power Corporation is expected to bring a new, long-term and steady income to TCC, as demonstrated from the previous two successful IPP investments (490 MW Chang Bin IPP of Star Energy Power Corporation, and 980MW Fong Der IPP of Sun Ba Power Corporation). Based on the steady investment return from 3 IPPs and the successful Star Buck EPC turnkey experiences, TCC will continue to develop new power-energy projects, and take on more EPC challenges.
